PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

COLORFAST, Providence, Rhode IslandFounder, President, 2014-Present

Founder of digital print and textile design company. Collaborated with Zoe Latta of Eckhaus Latta to develop original pattern archive of print designs. Researched trends in color, pattern and developed mood boards and themes for inspiration. Oversaw five additional freelance designers, directed mood, color and trend for design development. Edited and curated pattern designs based on trend, color and application. Curated a library of digital and physical vintage patterns for inspiration and development. Created a process for digitizing vintage samples that included scanning, redesigning and recoloring patterns to create an extensive vintage archive. Freelance original pattern design based on supplied inspiration and color palette for fashion clients.  

Starting a research and manufacturing pilot facility for the design and production of digitally printed textiles. Developing methods of production and operation through researching, mapping, collecting, archiving, observing, and modeling best practices from the design and manufacturing industries, and bringing together two of Rhode Island’s greatest strengths, design and manufacturing. 

Clients include Made by Gypsy, Lou & Grey, A Piece Apart and Clinique. 

BROWN UNIVERSITY
Art Director, 2017-2018

Strategist and designer for Brown’s in house design team. Integrated newly structured Creative Services Team within the larger Office of University Communications. Tasked with elevating and repositioning of the Brown brand to reflect its standing in the Ivy League. Lead a team of 5 designers of varying experience and skill level. Created a studio environment that encouraged collaboration and sharing of knowledge and skills.

Developed and implemented new look and feel across all Admissions materials including the Junior Brochure which went out to over 55,000 prospective students and re-skinning of the Admissions website. Collaborated with with cross-departmental teams for major rebrands of Institutes. Brought over 30 departments into brand alignment. Oversaw the design and production of from 50 to 100 projects a month between the Creative Services Team and the Digital Print Facility. 

BASICS GROUP, Providence, Rhode Island
Creative Director, 2013-2017 | Senior Designer 2009-2013 | Freelance Designer: 2007-2009

Big picture strategist and concept development for branding, logo design, print, web and application interface design, brand development, messaging and implementation. Management of internal and external project teams, execution of on the ground event planning, event photography, and print management.

Executed a major rebrand and communication strategy for the Rhode Island Foundation which drove giving by 21.6%. Using internal and external market research, created new logo and messaging based on their strategic plan. Continued project lead on ongoing special events related materials and brand collateral, including their 100th Anniversary campaign, for Roger Williams Park, which raised over 8 million dollars. 

Concepted and orchestrated “Rhode Island It’s All In Our Backyard” campaign including concept development, hand lettered logo design, and execution of events, traditional and social media, video, and design and content creation for the accompanying website.

Developed and implemented new creative for 2 years of Open Enrollment for HealthSource RI. Created digital ads, videos, radio ads and print assets for 3 target markets.

Managed brand assets and retail strategy for Citizens Bank and CVS Health. Developed print brand and store guides into Citizen’s Brand database. Execution of on the ground event planning, event photography, print management and management of project teams. 

Implemented InfoWorks, a multiyear online web application development project for the Rhode Island Department of Education. Developed UI for display of multiple years of school, district and state level education data. Oversaw project management for the development team as well as multiple state agencies and stakeholders.  

Clients include the Rhode Island Foundation, HealthSourceRI, RBS Citizens Financial Group, CVS Health, the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, State of Rhode Island: Office of the Governor, Rhode Island Department of Education, Sugar Fix Dental Loft, Made by Gypsy Hawaii, and RI NSF EPSCoR.

RHODE ISLAND SCHOOL OF DESIGN, Providence, Rhode Island Instructor, Infinite Surface Design, Summer 2015
Instructor for adult students of all levels in pattern and surface design for digital printing. Created a simplified system for translating rough hand made work into complex digital patterns. Trained students on large scale digital printer and finishing equipment. Students participated in weekly group critiques of independent assignments and one on one discussions of their work.

SCHWA DESIGN, Providence, Rhode Island Project Manager, 2005-2008 | Junior Designer, 2007-2008
Project Managed a group of over 20 freelance graphic and web designers to coordinate website, print, tradeshow and packaging projects for over 40 clients. Co-project managed the implementation of the “Providence, the Creative Capital” campaign. Clients included The City of Providence, British Telecom, Delta Dental of Massachusetts, Rhode Island Hospital and Ounce Labs.

BOX LTD, New York, New York Director of Exhibitions, 2001-2003 | Archivist, 1999-2001
Established exhibitions department for high-end digital photography studio. Managed a department of 3 with a 1 million dollar budget. Produced exhibitions, catalogs and books for artists, museums and galleries such as Pace/MacGill and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Oversaw fine art book and catalog press production on site in Germany and New York. Created workflow and oversaw production for limited editions of fine art photographs. Initiated and created standard for digital archiving of digital image and output files. Built and maintained a digital catalog of over 35,000 files. Clients included Annie Leibovitz, The Estate of Guy Bourdin, Roni Horn, Philip-Lorca di Corcia, and American Express.
